Utter Autism

About Me

I’m a mom of four.

My eldest son, Adrian, is non-verbal and autistic.  He currently lives in a group home. He’s sweet and lovable, smart and has a great sense of humor.  Like most young men with autism, he has behaviors that make life challenging sometimes, funny other times but always interesting.

The girls are twins.  Born 19 months after Adrian, they’ve been great peer models for him from the start.  The girls adore their brother despite the challenges an autistic sibling sometimes presents.

Our youngest son was born nearly 7 years after Adrian but they’re best buds.  It’s been amazing to see Adrian in his role as big brother.

My husband and I worked for years to get Adrian an effective means of communication.  We found the products available impossibly expensive, the process to obtain funding exhausting and inefficient and we want to see it changed.

  1. Very glad to meet you—-and all four (five) of yours!

  2. Hello,

I would be interested in getting your input. My name is Joel Pearlman, and my 8 year old daughter (Danielle) has autism. Obviously I’m passionate about autism and about a year ago I decided that I would really like to figure out a way to help the cause. Quick background on me, I have successfully run my own business for 18 years (Image One) which has given me the ability to focus on my passion. I decided to start an organization called http://www.tonerforautism.com. The site sells ink and toner for printers with the idea that people are buying these products for their home or businesses; why not make a purchase with purpose? Our mission is to raise awareness and donate at least $1,000,000 by contributing 5% of every sale to organizations that support autism related research and issues, such as Autism Speaks. I would love to get your feedback and or help in spreading the word to other people who support this important cause. Please check out the website at http://www.tonerforautism.com and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
